Feeling Stuck?
How to move out of the stagnation.
Well spring has certainly sprung!
This is my favourite time of year. There’s a noticeable shift in energy... Renewal, cleansing, expansive, motivating.
That spring cleaning urge has kicked in!
In Chinese medicine, spring is associated with the Wood element. Wood governs the Liver and Gall Bladder meridians and is all about direction and growth, rigidity and flexibility, stagnation and movement.
If you have been feeling stuck / overwhelmed / frustrated by things during the more dormant phase of winter, here are a few things to help kick start your 'regeneration' this spring...
PHYSICALLY:
Move your body! Movement is essential to stir up all of the lymph, blood and energy that has been lying stagnant. I don't know about you, but whenever I'm in a mental funk or feeling stuck, a simple walk does wonders. And stretch! Stretching is so underestimated for our posture, pain, balance and longevity. The Liver and Gall Bladder meridians run up and down the sides of the bodies, so side bends and twisting movements are great for stimulating qi flow.
NUTRITIONALLY:
We want to support the liver with fiber rich foods, plenty of green veggies, sour and bitter foods and plenty of garlic, ginger and turmeric. Try switching to non alcoholic drinks for a while (or at least part of the week!). Tonics such as matcha, green tea and herbs like milk thistle and dandelion root are wonderful detoxification aids. (You can get these from most health food shops)
MENTALLY:
Where do you feel stuck? What habits have you fallen into? What decisions have you been putting off? What beliefs or negative thought patterns have you been holding onto, that now may be perfect time to let go of? Write it all out to clear your mind. Make an action plan. Make changes.
EMOTIONALLY:
The Wood element is associated with feelings of anger, frustration, resentment and judgement. What grudges are you holding onto? Where are you being triggered? Who can you forgive? I believe that old suppressed emotions are ALWAYS at the core of ALL our symptoms. So cry, scream, hit pillows, write, sing or dance to process and release old suppressed, stagnant emotions. Let it the f*** go!
ENERGETICALLY:
We are energetics beings and blockages happen to us all. (Me included!) I've found our home and work space can affect this greatly. What can you let go of? Where can you allow more flow? I am prioritising a big wardrobe clear out this week (and weirdly, I'm excited for it!) As for our body's energetics - I can help with that! Come in and have a tune-up, clear the stagnation, get clarity and direction, in order to feel lighter and ready to take aligned action in the coming months.
All the love soaked hugs,
Gina
